Chlamydia can be difficult to detect because there are usually no visible or palpable symptoms. Sometimes the symptoms of chlamydia are so mild that people miss them, or they mistake them for something else. Most people are unaware they have chlamydia, which is one of the reasons it is such a common infection (and why it is critical to get tested).
If you don't cure chlamydia, it might cause serious infections and possibly infertility. But if you identify it early, it's typically simple to treat with medication. This is why it's crucial to have frequent STD testing, regardless of how healthy you feel.
Signs of chlamydia
If you do have chlamydia symptoms, they may not appear for a few weeks after the infection. Both men and women can experience chlamydia's symptoms, which include:
burning or aching while urinating
suffering during sex
lower stomach ache
unusual uterine discharge (maybe yellowish and have a strong smell)
between periods bleeding
a watery or milky discharge from the penis, or pus
enlarged or sensitive testicles

Some chlamydia symptoms may also differ slightly between men and women.
Chlamydia symptoms in men
Many men are unaware of the symptoms of chlamydia. The majority of men have no symptoms at all.
Some of the most common chlamydia symptoms in men include urinating with a burning sensation, yellow or green discharge from the penis, pain in the lower abdomen, and pain in the testicles. The risk of contracting chlamydia in the throat increases when having oral intercourse with an infected person. The presence of a sore throat, a cough, or fever are symptoms. It's also possible to have undetected throat bacteria.
Signs of chlamydia in women
Often referred to as the "silent infection," chlamydia. This is due to the possibility that chlamydia patients show no symptoms at all.
It could take several weeks before a woman experiences any symptoms after contracting the STI.
The following are some of the most typical signs of chlamydia in women:
painful sexual activity (dyspareunia)
vaginal oozing
a scorching feeling when urinating
tummy ache in the lower third
swelling of the cervix (cervicitis)
between periods bleeding
Infections that extend to the fallopian tubes in certain women might result in pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). A medical emergency is PID.
If you have chlamydia in your eyes, you may experience redness, skin discoloration around your eye, itching, and discharge. Chlamydia infections in the throat can cause soreness, but this is uncommon.
If you or your partner experience any of these symptoms, seek medical attention from a nurse, doctor, or your local Planned Parenthood Health Centre. If you're pregnant, it's especially important to get checked out.
Remember that most people with chlamydia show no symptoms at all. That is why getting tested is the only way to know for sure if you have chlamydia.
